Key Brentford duo Henrik Dalsgaard and Nico Yennaris are doubts for Saturday’s Championship clash against Leeds United at Griffin Park.

Right-back Dalsgaard, 28, was forced off the pitch in the London outfit’s 2-0 win against Birmingham on Wednesday night with a foot injury and midfielder Yennaris is struggling with a head injury.

Manager Dean Smith confirmed on Thursday that both players are in race against time bids to be fit for the weekend against struggling Leeds.

Asked about the fitness of Dalsgaard, Smith said, as quoted by GetWestLondon: “I’m not sure. It’s a heel injury but I hope it’s more contact. I’m hopeful for him against Leeds.”

Ex-Arsenal man Yennaris, 24, missed the win at St. Andrew’s after he suffered concussion in the 3-2 victory at Deepdale against Preston at the weekend.

“There’s a number of tests that he has to go and get ticks for. He’s done ball work today and he’ll join the rest of the lads tomorrow,” the Bees boss added.

“If he gets the ticks in the procedure in coming back from the unconscious spell then he’ll be okay for Saturday.”

OPINION

Brentford are on an uphill surge at the same time as Leeds’ downward spiral, and the Londoners will be keeping their fingers crossed about key pair Dalsgaard and Yennaris. The Danish right-back has been ever-present this season, starting in all but one of Brentford’s Championship fixtures, while midfield mainstay Yennaris has helped them dominate during an impressive eight-match unbeaten run that has lifted them from the relegation spot to 15th in the table, just four points adrift of Leeds. There will be few tears shed among the Yorkshire giants if the duo miss out. Leeds need every assistance they can get at the moment.
