Leeds United fans took to Twitter to criticise Matthew Pennington after his first-half display against Sheffield United.
The centre-back made a series of mistakes during the opening period as Leeds came from a goal down to go into the break at 1-1.
Former Leeds striker Billy Sharp gave United the lead after just two minutes at Elland Road with his sixth goal of the season to silence the home crowd.
Leeds equalised after 35 minutes through a sensational Kalvin Phillips volley from the edge of the box but it could not mask a wretched display from Thomas Christiansen’s side in the first half.
The home side’s performance was summed up by on-loan Everton defender Pennington, who continually conceded possession and was defensively found wanting as United carved out a series of fine opportunities.
Goalkeeper Andy Lonergan made two excellent first-half saves to keep his side in the match but that did not stop Leeds fans laying into Pennington, who had been given the nod to start at centre-back ahead of Pontus Jansson for a second consecutive match.
The Elland Road faithful called on Christiansen to sub Pennington at half-time and replace him with Sweden international Jansson.
