Leeds United fans have taken to Twitter to express concern about the calibre of summer signing Jay-Roy Grot as the inquest continued into their defeat to Reading.
Grot arrived at Elland Road in August after signing from Dutch club NEC for an initial £750,000 in a deal that could rise to £1.5million.
The 19-year-old is one of five strikers jostling for the centre-forward spot in the Leeds starting XI along with main man Pierre-Michel Lasogga, fellow summer arrivals Pawel Cibicki and Caleb Ekuban, and versatile attacker Kemar Roofe.
Grot is yet to score for his new club from seven appearances, although six of those have been as a substitute.
His latest cameo came in Saturday’s 1-0 league defeat to Reading at Elland Road, in which he came on for Lasogga after 77 minutes of the match.
Leeds fans are concerned whether the Dutch teenager has the touch and technical quality to match his power and athleticism, with many claiming on social media that he does not looking ready to play for their first team.
The criticism ranged from him being a poor man’s Tyson Fury – the boxer who does not live up to his billing – to being ill equipped for the English Championship.

I woyld like to see Cibicki given a chance ahead of Jay Roy Grot. Big for nothing it looks like, doesn’t seem to use his giant frame #Lufc

If we’re using grot and sacko as impact subs there’s still a long way to go. #lufc

Awful decision. Whilst Grot maybe a good prospect for the future he’s not ready for the championship #lufc
