Goalkeeper and defence
Loris Karius – 6
The goalkeeper had a fairly quiet evening against a poor Maribor side that rarely threatened, but a clean sheet will boost his confidence. He showed he can act as a good sweeper keeper and that will be a positive sign for Klopp.
Trent Alexander-Arnold – 8
He was rarely tested defensively and is unlikely to overtake Joe Gomez in the pecking order, but showed his attacking traits once again. Managed to even get on the score-sheet in the closing stages.
Joel Matip – 6
With hindsight resting the defender might have been a smart move as he saw very little action against Maribor.
Dejan Lovren – 6
He looked comfortable enough in possession and again wasn’t stretched defensively.
Alberto Moreno – 7
The left-back has enjoyed a brilliant turnaround this season and was once again an asset to the Liverpool side, having a big role in the final third.
