Leeds United midfielder Ronaldo Vieira is confident that this side will beat Sheffield United when they clash on Friday night if they do the basics right.

The Whites host their Yorkshire rivals at Elland Road for a highly anticipated clash in the Championship.

Thomas Christiansen’s side are currently fourth in the league table and are four points adrift of third-placed Sheffield United.

They have been two of the standout teams so far in the division and are beginning to look like real promotion candidates as the table takes shape.

Vieira, 19, believes that Leeds have the quality to beat a very strong Sheffield United team on Friday and fans will be delighted by his confidence.

“They (Sheffield United) have done unbelievable but it’s just another team for us to go and get three points,” Vieira said in the pre-match press conference, as quoted by the Yorkshire Evening Post. “If we do the things right we will get the three points.”

OPINION

Vieira has waited patiently this season due to problems with a knee injury and he is set to play a big role against Sheffield United from the start. The powerhouse midfielder will bring the extra steel in the centre of the park and his confidence going into the game is superb. Leeds played a weakened team in the 3-1 defeat to Leicester in the fourth round of the Carabao Cup and should be able to restore their big hitters for Friday night. A win would be huge for the Whites and lay down a serious market in the hunt for promotion.
