Bristol City manager Lee Johnson has heaped praise on Leeds United defender Luke Ayling before the two teams meet on Saturday.

The Whites travel to Bristol City at the weekend for a Championship clash and will be looking to bounce back from three consecutive defeats in the league.

It will be a big encounter for Leeds defender Ayling, who will be facing his former club at Ashton Gate.

The 26-year-old made 95 appearances for the Robins during his two-year spell with them before he moved to Elland Road in 2016.

He has since become a mainstay in the Leeds defence at right-back and has played every single minute in the league this season.

Manager Johnson believes that Ayling has done “very well” since his move to the Yorkshire giants and will be hoping his Bristol City side get the better of the full-back.

“Luke Ayling has done very well at Leeds and I’m sure he’ll get a great reception,” Johnson said, as quoted by Bristol City’s official Twitter account.

OPINION

Ayling has become arguably Leeds’ most consistent player over the past 12 months and has turned out to be a superb signing. The full-back has continued to impress under manager Thomas Christiansen and is one of the first names on the team-sheet. His insight on Bristol City could come in handy at the weekend after spending two years at the club and he will be keen to put in a good performance. Leeds will need their star men such as Ayling to come to the fore at the weekend to get them out of their mini blip. The Whites are still occupying a play-off spot in sixth, but opponents Bristol City should be a difficult test as they sit fourth.
