Leicester ace Demarai Gray has heaped praised on Leeds United before the two sides clash on Tuesday night in the Carabao Cup.

The 21-year-old attacker has recognised the form of the Whites in the Championship, but believes his Premier League side have enough quality to progress.

Gray could be involved for the Foxes in the mid-week cup clash as Michael Appleton continues to take charge of the Midlands club following the sacking of Craig Shakespeare.

Meanwhile, Leeds will travel to the King Power Stadium with optimism of reaching the quarter-finals of the League Cup after already knocking out top-flight opponents Burnley earlier in the competition.

Thomas Christiansen’s side recorded an emphatic 3-0 win away at Bristol City at the weekend and it’s unclear how many changes he will make to his side.

Leicester winger Gray has labelled Leeds “resilient” following their display against Burnley in the third round and is expecting a tough match.

“We know Leeds are a good team and they’re doing well in the Championship,” he told Leicester’s official website.

“Beating Burnley proved they are resilient as well because it went to extra-time and penalties.

“We don’t take any game lightly and we approach every game properly.

“As long as we have the right mentality, I think we can progress.”

OPINION

Leeds’ priority is clearly the Championship this season and any progress in the cup is an added bonus for them, but they should be up for a trip to Leicester. Christiansen should rest a few of his key players as there is a crucial home match against Sheffield United this week in the league on Friday. They do have a number of fringe players that will be desperate to force their way into the starting XI on a permanent basis and impressing against Premier League opposition will help. The likes of Felix Wiedwald, Hadi Sacko and Jay-Roy Grot could all get the chance to show what they can do.
