Leeds United fans raved about Ronaldo Vieira on Twitter in the wake of their 2-1 Championship defeat to Sheffield United on Friday night.
The central midfielder was named in the starting XI for the second consecutive league match after spending the first two months of the campaign on the fringes of the team.
The England Under-20 international formed a midfield triumvirate with Eunan O’Kane and goalscorer Kalvin Phillips as Leeds stuck with the tactics that paid dividends in their win against Bristol City six days earlier.
Sheffield United went top of the Championship thanks to David Brooks’ late winner at the home of their Yorkshire rivals.
Billy Sharp put the visitors in front with a second-minute header that keeper Andy Lonergan could not keep out, as the Blades controlled the early stages with some excellent play.
Kalvin Phillips equalised for the hosts with a cleanly-struck volley from the edge of the area before the break.
Samuel Saiz’s swerving strike hit the post for Leeds before substitute Brooks won the game with a calm, low finish.
On what was another emphatic defeat for Leeds against a promotion rival, supporters chanted the name of academy product Vieira throughout the match.
A section of the fanbase also took to social media after the match to report that he was one positive note on what was a generally dispiriting night.

A lot needs to change tactically, happening far too often. Defensively a shambles. Saiz, Phillips and Vieira, only decent performers. #lufc

Saiz and Vieira should be the first names on the team sheet every week. Looked much better with Saiz further forward #lufc

3/3 Man of match for us was Lonergan! That says it all! Talking of Saiz he played well but that’s it apart from Viera. We’re spineless #lufc
