Leeds and Cardiff combined XI

|

Goalkeeper and defence

Felix Weidwald (Goalkeeper) – The Leeds shot stopper just wins out in the battle of the goalkeepers ahead of Neil Etheridge, with both of them making strong starts to the season. They both do have a mistake in them, but Wiedwald’s clean sheet tally of six gives him the edge.

Luke Ayling (Right-back) – Arguably the Whites’ most consistent player Ayling has to be in the combined XI and his performance rarely dip below at least a 7/10. He gets the edge over duo Jazz Richards and Lee Peltier in the side, who are strong candidates in their own right.

Pontus Jansson (Centre-back) – The Sweden international is probably the best defender in the Championship and is ready for top-flight football, with the team looking far stronger with him included.

Liam Cooper (Centre-back) – He may not have made this combined XI last season, but his form so far has earned him a spot. Cardiff duo Sol Bamba and Sean Morrison can consider themselves unlucky, but right now the Leeds centre-back combination shade it.

Joe Bennett (Left-back) – Bluebirds full-back Bennett makes the side as he is extremely reliable defensively. He is picked over the likes of Gaetano Berardi and Vurnon Anita, who are make-shift left-backs in the Leeds team.
