Wes Foderingham is set to be restored to the Rangers starting XI for their Scottish Premiership clash against bitter rivals Celtic today (Saturday), according to BBC Sport.

The broadcaster claim on their website that established number one Foderingham is expected to be recalled after being omitted from the side that been Partick Thistle in the Scottish League Cup in midweek.

Jan Alnwick took over in goal for the second time this season, as Pedro Caixinha gave the nod to the deputy for the second consecutive cup match.

BBC Sport claim that Kenny Miller is in line for a recall after also being rested at Firhill on Tuesday night, when Rangers beat the home side 3-1 after extra time.

Like Foderingham, the veteran forward, 37, has started all six of Rangers’ league matches this season.

OPINION

Restoring Foderingham to the starting XI will be regarded as a no-brainer by Rangers fans, given his status as the undisputed number one and the consistency that has made him one of the team’s most valuable performers. However, the recall of Miller would be more contentious. The former Scotland international has struggled to make an impact this season as the signs grow that there is little petrol left in the tank. His experience and knowhow will no doubt be valuable in the Ibrox cauldron today, but it appears that his game time will gradually decrease as the season progresses.
