OPINION
Tottenham just did enough to sneak past a spirited Barnsley side at Wembley.
However it wasn’t vintage Spurs and they took 62 minutes to register a shot on target.
Dele Alli scored in the 65th minute to save their blushes, after good work from Kieran Trippier down the right.
He beat his man and rolled a perfect pass across goal for Alli to slam home from a few yards out.
Barnsley had few chances but put up a pretty resilient display, but it’s the Tottenham players that progress to the next round of the League Cup.
On the plus side, it’s another win at Wembley for Tottenham as they look to settle in their new home – it’s the second this season and every one will help.
Spurs are still looking for a Premier League win at Wembley though, after a loss and two draws to date.
