Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain made his first start in a Liverpool shirt and fans were wishing he hadn’t, after an abject display in his team’s 2-0 defeat at Leicester in the League Cup.
Jurgen Klopp’s team suffered another disappointing result in what’s turning out to be a pretty bad start to the season, losing 2-0 to a second-string Leicester side.
And Oxlade-Chamberlain took the brunt of the criticism from the Liverpool fans after a really poor display that also saw Arsenal and Chelsea fans crowing on social media.
It meant Liverpool fans turned to Twitter after the game to ask why Jurgen Klopp had signed him – especially taking on board their team’s defensive frailties.
However, a couple of fans were more forgiving, acknowledging that he’d had a bad game, but saying his colleagues on the night were not much better.
However, as another Liverpool fan pointed out – Arsenal haven’t lost a game since selling him, and Liverpool haven’t won a game since signing him. Coincidence?

Baffling why Oxlade Chamberlain was signed – he's woeful… Solanke very poor tonight too. Travelling Liverpool fans were superb… #LFC

Terrible first start for Oxlade-Chamberlain. Wouldn't judged him solely off that mind. Look at the players around him. #LFC

Oxlade-Chamberlain has been absolutely shocking in a Liverpool shirt so far… the fact he cost £45 million is making it even worse #lfc
