Tottenham player ratings v Apoel

|

1. Goalkeeper and defenders

Hugo Lloris – 6
The normally unflappable Lloris is making mistakes and it’s a concern. One almost led to a goal when he tried to clear the ball only to see it rebound off an Apoel player and trickle just wide. Redeemed himself with some smart stops in the second half.

Kieran Trippier – 7
Great going forward and an excellent cross for Harry Kane’s hat-trick. Should have had another assist with a brilliant cross for Heung-Min Son who couldn’t convert.

Toby Alderweireld – 6
Guilty of gifting Apoel chances in the first half but slotted a beautiful ball through for Kane’s first goal. Better after the switch-around when Serge Aurier was taken off.

Davinson Sanchez – 7
Looks comfortable at the back for Spurs – like he’s played with the team a lot longer than he has. Another good performance.

Serge Aurier – 5
Didn’t have a great night tonight and it was arguably his worst performance in a Spurs shirt – putting his red card to one side. Needs to improve his crossing.

Ben Davies – 7
Versatility is a great thing in a defender and Davies looked comfortable as part of a back three, but much better when he took his customary position up in the second half.
