Andrea Radrizzani believes Stuart Dallas is more than worth his new three-year contract at Leeds after the winger put pen to paper on Wednesday afternoon.

Leeds confirmed on their official website that the 26-year-old had signed a new deal that would see him remain with the Yorkshire giants until the summer of 2020, with his original deal expiring in June 2018.

Leeds owner Radrizzani delivered a two-word verdict on the news through his personal Twitter account, describing the new deal as “well deserved” following Dallas’ impressive start to the 2017-18 campaign.

Despite losing his place in the starting eleven to new signing Ezgjan Alioski, the former Brentford man has impressed when given the chance this season.

The left-footed attacker has already had a hand in three goals during his six league and cup outings, scoring a header in the 2-0 win over Sunderland as well as providing an assist in the 4-1 win against Port Vale and the 5-1 triumph over Newport County.

Dallas is currently with the Northern Ireland squad as he looks to earn his 20th cap for his country against San Marino and the Czech Republic, in next month’s 2018 World Cup qualifiers.

OPINION

Dallas more than deserves his new contract and with the Belfast Telegraph claiming that Norwich were interested in signing the Whites number 15, a contract was desperately required to keep him on side. Although he is not a starter at the moment, he will come in as first reserve and has already shown how effective he can be even from the bench as he scored a bullet header to wrap up three points against former manager Simon Grayson and Sunderland. A real statement of intent by the Whites, which shows players want to remain at the club even if they are not playing regular football.
