OPINION
Leeds have begun talks with Premier League club Crystal Palace about signing their midfielder Jordan Mutch.
The Sun claim that the two teams are in talks over the 25-year-old and that the Whites are hoping to negotiate a £2million cut-price deal.
It is understood that Leeds boss Thomas Christiansen is trying to secure a cheap deal before the close of the transfer window for a player that has fallen down the pecking order at Selhurst Park.
The report details that the Yorkshire giants would be prepared to settle on a season-long loan deal if they can’t agree a cheap price.
Good move for Leeds?
Leeds have money to spend following the £15million sale of Chris Wood and recruiting Mutch would be a decent piece of business at just £2million.
The versatile midfielder, who can play in a central role or out wide, is a technically capable player that would make a big impact if he dropped down to the Championship.
He has previously shown his class in England’s second division for a host of clubs and could make a positive impact at Elland Road.
Mutch may have fallen out of favour at Palace, but at 25 still has years ahead of him and just needs a fresh move to rediscover his top form.
The Englishman has shown his ability during 78 Premier League appearances and Leeds would be bringing in a very capable player to provide some extra quality in their midfield.
However, Leeds fans are desperate for the club to bring in a new striker to replace Wood and that should be an imperative over Mutch right now.

Likely to happen?
Mutch featured regularly in pre-season for Palace, but is clearly not in their long-term plans and it would be no surprise to see him moved on in the remainder of the window.
However, Leeds may face a battle to try complete their desired £2million deal as he originally cost the Premier League side £4.7million from QPR.
They do already have an overload of midfield options in the centre with the likes of Ronaldo Vieira, Kalvin Phillips, Eunan O’Kane and Mateusz Klich competing for a spot.
However, Mutch also has the versatility to provide a goal threat from out wide and that is an option that Christiansen could explore.
