Kyle Walker is set to undergo a Manchester City medical on Friday as he completes a £50million transfer from Tottenham, according to a reliable journalist.

BBC Sport correspondent David Ornstein reported on his personal Twitter account on Thursday afternoon that City have agreed the the terms of a deal worth up to £50million with Spurs on Thursday night.

Ornstein explained that Walker, 27, will undergo medical tests at City on Friday and put the finishing touches to the switch before joining up with the first-team squad that are jetting off on Monday on a pre-season tour.

It means that Walker will bring to an end his eight-year association with Spurs that began when he signed from Sheffield United in 2009.

City and Spurs have been locked in talks over right-back Walker for weeks, with City reluctant to offer more than £40million.

But they have now agreed a deal which could be worth up to £50million, which meets the valuation chairman Daniel Levy placed on the England international and equals the world record for a defender.

Paris Saint-Germain also paid £50million to Chelsea for David Luiz in 2014.

Walker is set to be replace in the Spurs starting line-up by Kieran Trippier, who grabbed his opportunity at the end of last season after Mauricio Pochettino preferred him in the team for a number of marquee matches.

Despite his omission, Walker is regarded as one of the outstanding players in his position in Europe and was named by his peers in the PFA Premier League team of the season for 2016-17.
