Wolves are set to sign goalkeeper John Ruddy on a free transfer this summer, according to the Sun.

The newspaper claims that the Championship side will sign the 30-year-old on an emergency deal following the news that first-choice shot-stopper Carl Ikeme was recently diagnosed with acute leukaemia.

The report claims that Ikeme is set to be out of action for a lengthly spell which has meant that Wolves have had to react quickly and they believe Ruddy is the perfect replacement ahead of the upcoming Championship season.

The Sun claims that fellow Championship side Sunderland were also keeping tabs on the goalkeeper following his release from Norwich City at the end of the season.

It is reported that Ruddy is looking forward to the prospect of playing football at Molineux next season.

Wolves look set to add more signings to the squad during the summer transfer window as reliable journalist Tim Nash recently revealed on his official Twitter account that the club are set to raid Premier League sides for young talent.

New Wolves manager Nuno Espirito Santo will be hopeful that Ruddy can help the team mount a serious challenge on the playoff places next season.

The goalkeeper is a player with vast experience at the top level, featuring in 117 Premier League matches and keeping 25 clean sheets in the process.
