Milton Keynes Dons are interested in signing Rangers defender Rob Kiernan this summer, according to the Scottish Sun.

The newspaper claims that the 26-year-old has been informed by manager Pedro Caixinha that he is no longer required at Ibrox ahead of the upcoming season and MK Dons boss Robbie Neilson is willing to offer the defender a chance to kickstart his footballing career.

The report claims that the there is a stumbling block in the deal for the League Two side as Rangers have slapped a £200,000 price tag on the defender.

It is said that MK Dons are unable to match the asking price for Kiernan so they have enquired about signing the defender on a six-month loan deal next season.

MK Dons are not the only English club interested in signing Kiernan this summer as the Scottish Sun recently reported that Championship side Preston North End are also keen on landing the central defender.

Kiernan was a regular in the first-team during the 2015-16 season as his performances helped Rangers secure automatic promotion to the top tier of Scottish football for the first time in four years.

However, the defender endured a tough campaign last season as he missed the final two months with a calf injury.

Kiernan still managed to feature in 24 matches in all competitions, contributing with one goal and one assist.

The defender’s current contract at Ibrox expires at the end of next season.
