Tottenham have responded strongly to Manchester United’s bid for versatile midfielder Eric Dier by making it clear that he is not for sale, according to Football.London.

The report follows claims from the Telegraph on Friday afternoon that said chairman Daniel Levy had held extensive talks about the 23-year-old England international with the Old Trafford giants.

However, Football.London has said that Spurs will not let go of Dier for any price with manager Mauricio Pochettino reported to be a big fan of his.

He is also claimed to be seen as a growing leader within the north London club’s dressing room and Pochettino views him as pivotal for the future of the club.

Dier made the move to Tottenham in the same summer as the Argentine three years a go in a relatively low £4million deal from Portuguese giants Sporting Lisbon.

He has since become an ever-present in the team playing 135 times in total and has shown his ability to play in the defensive midfield, centre-back and right-back positions.

The Englishman is also still contracted to the club until 2021, giving both Tottenham and Levy all the power in negotiations due to the length of his deal.
