Goalkeeper Bailey Peacock-Farrell will now complete a temporary transfer away from Leeds after agreeing to the terms of a new three-year contract on Sunday, according to reliable journalist Phil Hay.

The Yorkshire Evening Post chief football writer reported via his personal Twitter account on Sunday evening that the 20-year-old will now go on loan, with League One club Oldham working on a season-long deal this week.

The claim follows the confirmation of the youngster’s contract extension, which was announced by the club’s official academy Twitter account on Sunday.

The Darlington-born stopper is highly rated in the Leeds set-up, but with veteran Rob Green and summer addition Felix Wiedwald ahead of him in the goalkeeping pecking order a move out on loan may be the best for his progression.

Peacock-Farrell has previously played just one match of senior football, which came during a 1-1 draw against QPR back in May 2016.

He will now be hoping to experience more senior football and a move to Oldham, where Lee Erwin starred in the last campaign could be the right move for him.

Leeds themselves are gunning for promotion next season under Thomas Christiansen and Peacok-Farrell could end up returning to a Premier League team.
