Walcott wants Arsenal stay

Arsenal forward Theo Walcott has decided that he wants to remain in north London this summer despite interest from West Ham, according to the Daily Star.

The newspaper has detailed on their website that the Hammers are keen to sign the 28-year-old for £20million this summer.

However, the right-winger has emphatically decided to remain at the Emirates despite the guarantee of first team football with Slaven Bilic’s side.

The 47-time capped England international is going into his 13th season at Arsenal after signing from Southampton in January 2006 for a fee of just £5million.

He has just two years remaining on his contract at the club, but it is said in the Star report that Walcott remains confident in his own ability with the World Cup in Russia coming up next summer.

Last season the attacker, who can play on both the right as a centre-forward featured in 37 matches in all competitions, returning a fine 19 goals.

He would have certainly added some much needed firepower to the West Ham team, who finished with usual wideman Michail Antonio as their top scorer in all competitions in the last campaign with nine goals.

But, it looks like they will have to steer away from Walcott.
