Former Leeds managers Garry Monk and Simon Grayson are monitoring the situation of current star Rob Green following the signing of Felix Wiedwald, according to reliable journalist Phil Hay.

The Yorkshire Evening Post chief football writer has reported on his personal Twitter account on Tuesday morning that the clubs of the two senior men; Middlesbrough and Sunderland would become interested if the veteran goalkeeper becomes available this summer.

Green, 37, joined Leeds under Monk last summer and was his number one between the sticks throughout the last campaign, playing in all 46 of their Championship matches.

In those matches he conceded just 47 times, while keeping 15 clean sheets and he also played enough to activate a one-year contract extension.

But, with the signing of Wiedwald, who featured heavily for Werder Bremen in the Bundesliga last season Green’s game time could severely lessen and he may now seek a move in an attempt to find more first team football at this late stage of his career.

Meanwhile, both Monk and Grayson will be looking to strengthen their respective sides this summer following their recent appointments and the pair could be looking at Leeds given their knowledge of the club and players.
