Pedro Caixinha would get Rangers fans on side if he lured Aston Villa ace Alan Hutton back to Ibrox this summer after it was reported the defender could leave.

The Sun’s transfer expert Alan Nixon claimed on his personal Twitter account that the 32-year-old would be allowed to leave Steve Bruce’s side this summer, after losing his place on the right side of defence to James Bree.

The Daily Star claimed in 2016 that the last contract Hutton signed in 2014 is worth a whopping £30,000 a week at Villa Park, and he will potentially need to take a pay cut if he was to join his former side this summer.

The veteran defender moved to Villa back in 2011 and has remained at the club since, despite a number of loan moves to Championship sides Bolton and Nottingham Forest as well as Spanish side Mallorca.

A 50-time Scotland international, Hutton is now on the lookout for a new club and could well return to where it all began, nine years after leaving the 54-time Scottish champions.

This Is Futbol considers three reasons why Hutton would be a top signing if he was brought back to Auchenhowie by Caixinha with a 25-year-old defender proving inconsistent last season.
