Former Hibernian striker turned outspoken pundit Tam McManus has told that he believes Nottingham Forest are getting “a real bargain” in Rangers attacker Barrie McKay at a reported £500,000.

The Sky Sports Twitter account reported on Tuesday afternoon that the 22-year-old was closing in on a move to Mark Warburton’s side with a medical scheduled on the same day.

The update also followed a report from the Daily Mail claiming that the Scotland international had agreed terms to move to the Championship club with a £500,000 fee also being agreed between the two clubs.

Now, McManus, who is often vocal about Scottish football via his personal Twitter account has told that he would have liked to have seen McKay move abroad instead of England and that the reported fee is less than his true value.

The reasoning for McKay’s low six-figure price-tag could be due could be due him falling out of contract next summer and it has been reported that he has rejected extending his deal further.

But, the attacker was also once thought of as one of Scotland’s brightest young prospects and the Daily Record even reported in January that Bundesliga club RB Leipzig had opened preliminary talks over a £6million move for him.

Now, it looks like Rangers are accepting a much lower offer this time around, but any fee received for McKay will help balance the books with all the in comings this summer, while it could even go towards Graham Dorrans, who Sky Sports report is travelling to Glasgow in the next 24 hours after a £1.3million fee was agreed with Norwich.
