Wide forward Barrie McKay is closing in on a transfer away from Rangers with a medical at Championship club Nottingham Forest scheduled for Tuesday, according to Sky Sports.

The popular broadcasters have reported on their personal Twitter account on Tuesday (2.11pm) that the 22-year-old left-winger will undergo a medical “this afternoon.”

The update follows a report from the Daily Mail claiming that the one-time capped Scotland international had agreed terms to re-join Mark Warburton in the Midlands in a £500,000 deal.

McKay had previously starred under Warburton and was also once thought of as a very bright prospect after making his debut as far back as 2012.

However, his contract is set to run out next summer and following the appointment of Pedro Caixinha in March he has fallen out of the squad and last week was ordered to train with the Under-20s.

It now looks as though the Ibrox youth graduate is set for pastures new and he will try to build a career for himself in England, like so many have done before him.

He would also mark Forest’s second signing of the summer window with Warburton previously using his knowledge of Scottish football to bring in Jason Cummings from Hibernian in June.
