Hayes delivers verdict on Jack move to Rangers

Celtic new boy Jonny Hayes believes his “fantastic” former team mate Ryan Jack will have no problems settling in at Rangers.

The midfield duo were two of Aberdeen’s top performers last season, but both of them have made summer moves to Glasgow, with Hayes going to the Hoops and Jack making a switch to Ibrox.

Jack, 25, came under some criticism from the Dons fans for leaving the club for Rangers, but Hayes believes the player will flourish with the Gers.

He told The Sunday Post: “Is there a contrast between the moves? It is hard to say. I can only really worry about myself on that score.

“Ryan could have been comfortable in Aberdeen, but he fancied a new challenge so he has moved himself and his family down to Glasgow and good luck to him.

“You have got to challenge yourself in football. I do think he will settle in well at Rangers, because he is a fantastic player who could settle in anywhere.”

Jack became Rangers manager Pedro Caixinha’s second signing of the summer when he joined the club last month.

He arrived at Ibrox after Bruno Alves, but since then Caixinha has brought in six new faces in the shapes of: Daniel Candeias, Fabio Cardoso, Dalcio, Eduardo Herrera, Carlos Pena and Alfredo Morelos.

The 25-year-old central midfielder made his debut in a light blue shirt in the 1-0 Europa League qualifying win over Progres Niedercorn last week.

Meanwhile, Hayes arrived at Parkhead last month, and he has recently been joined at the club by Kundai Benyu.

The 29-year-old right-midfielder bolsters a Bhoys squad already overflowing with talent, and he will hope to help his side replicate their achievements of the 2016-17 campaign.
