Leeds United are on course to complete the signing of attacker Samu Saiz from Huesca in the next 24 hours, according to a reliable journalist.

Radio Yorkshire presenter Joe Rawson claimed on his personal Twitter account on Sunday afternoon that United are working on a deal for the 26-year-old and he could be unveiled as their latest new signing by Monday night.

Asked by a Leeds supporter for an update on any transfers, Rawson explained “Saiz is still on course” and could be wrapped up at the start of the new week.

The Yorkshire Evening Post revealed on Thursday that Leeds are in advanced talks to sign the versatile forward from Spanish second tier outfit Huesca and that he could jet into England soon to undergo a medical.

Huesca director general José Luis Ortas the told Spanish radio station COPE that Leeds are pushing hard to land the versatile forward after he scored 12 goals and supplied eight assists in 40 league appearances last season.

He admitted Leeds had table a “significant” offer for Saiz but insisted there was interest from other clubs and no deal had been sealed at that point.

Leeds have been one of the most active Championship clubs in the summer transfer market and have already unveiled senior signings in Poland international midfielder Mateusz Klich and German goalkeeper Felix Wiedwald.

They have also landed central midfielder Madger Gomes from the Liverpool academy and converted the loans of Hadi Sacko and Pontus Jansson into permanent transfers.
