Three reasons why Newcastle must rival Brighton for Delaney

|

2016-17 form

Delaney was an important part of Bremen’s midfield last season, scoring a huge 12 goals from his position of holding midfield as well as having a hand in six assists during his 43 encounters.

Known for his driving runs from midfield, Delaney is a rare example of a dying breed of box-to-box midfielders that look to protect their own goal just as much as they look to score at the opposite end.

That kind of goalscoring form from deep is something currently missing from Newcastle’s side. Delaney’s creativity and ability to score from nothing would give the Toon an extra added dimension in their fight against relegation.
