Seven-time Canada international Arfield was an integral member of the Burnley side last season that avoided relegation with ease in 16th place with 40 points.
However, with only 12 months on his contract still to run, Arfield could now be allowed to leave the Lancashire club with manager Sean Dyche likely to be active in the transfer market with money to spend.
