Outspoken Birmingham manager Harry Redknapp believes Leeds “will be strong” next season when discussing who will be in the race for promotion.

The Yorkshire giants had a successful last campaign which saw them achieve a seventh placed finish in their seventh consecutive campaign in England’s second tier.

However, they have since changed manager with Garry Monk departing for recently relegated Middlesbrough, while Thomas Christiansen has taken charge at Elland Road.

Now, when assessing who will be in the race for the Premier League next season, Redknapp has told that while he sees Aston Villa to be favourites he believes Leeds, Middlesbrough, Sunderland, Fulham Derby and Wolves as all in the race.

“I see Villa are favourites for the league but this year every team thinks they should be in the Premier League don’t they,” told Redknapp to the Daily Star.

“Middlesbrough will spend big money and will be right up there, maybe Sunderland, Leeds will be strong, Fulham again, Derby and Wolves will have a go.

“Every team is going to fancy their chances.”

Despite Monk’s departure Leeds fans would agree that the summer has still be a successful one under new owner Andrea Radrizzani.

The Italian businessman won supporters over by finally buying full ownership back of Elland Road, while they have also completed moves for each of Hadi Sacko, Mateusz Klich, Felix Wiedwald and Vurnon Anita.

All associated with the club will now be hoping that Redknapp’s prediction comes true as they plan to finally bring an end to their 13-year wait for Premier League football.
