Charlie Taylor will complete a transfer from Leeds United to Burnley today that is expected to be worth over £5million, according to the Yorkshire Evening Post.

The regional newspaper claim that Taylor, 23, is to take up a contract with the Premier League club after his deal with boyhood club Leeds expired on Friday.

The Yorkshire Evening Post report that the left-back will link up with Sean Dyche’s side even though the fee has not been agreed between the two clubs.

It is said that Leeds are confident of securing a sum of more than £5million for Taylor through a tribunal after bring him through their academy since the age of nine and establishing him as a first-team regular.

The high point of his Elland Road career came when he won the club’s player of the year award at the end of the 2015-16 season.

United are due compensation for Taylor because he is under the age of 24 and they have developed him over the last 14 years.

The defender submitted a transfer request at the start of the season but it was rejected by Leeds and they once again snubbed interest in him during the January transfer window.

He leaves the Yorkshire giants on a sour note after ex-manager Garry Monk revealed that he had refused to play in their final match of last season, a Championship clash at Wigan that finished 1-1.
