Everton forward Michael Donohue has joined League One side Fleetwood Town after his contract at Goodison Park came to an end.

The Cod Army confirmed that they had secure the 19-year-old’s signing on their official Twitter account.

Although Donohue never made a first team appearance for the senior side, he did manage to earn himself a place on the bench for the Toffees’ EFL Trophy campaign last season.

At the club from the age of eight, he signed his first professional contract in the summer of 2015, and is able to play in a variety of positions, from a winger to a second striker.

His first experience of senior football came during a loan spell at non-league side Barrow during the 2015/16 season, where he made six appearances but failed to find the back of the net and provided a solitary assist.

Donohue becomes the second Toffee to join their North West neighbours at Fleetwood, with fellow forward Conor McAleny signing a three-year deal at Highbury in June.

Everton boss Ronald Koeman is having set to have an overhaul of his senior attackers as well as offloading the youngsters this summer, with Romelu Lukaku and Ross Barkley’s futures in serious doubt, while Kevin Mirallas is reportedly not part of the long term plans at the club.
