Fleetwood Town have completed the signing of Everton striker Conor McAleny, it has been confirmed.

The 24-year-old has put pen-to-paper on a three-year deal after McAleny’s contract was set to expire at the end of the month.

Fleetwood announced the news on their official website and on their official Twitter account on Friday morning.

McAleny becomes Fleetwood manager Uwe Rosler’s third signing of the summer, having already secured the services of Kyle Dempsey and Harvey Rodgers.

The 24-year-old leaves Everton after failing to make an impact in the first team, despite initially making the step up from the Under-18s set up in the summer of 2011.

He only made three senior appearances for the Toffees during his spell at the club, making his debut as a late substitute against Arsenal in 2011.

However, McAleny was a regular in the club’s Under-23s side, making 65 appearances in all competitions, scoring 26 goals and providing seven assists.

He has also enjoyed a number of loan spells which have seen him play for the likes of Scunthorpe, Brentford, Cardiff, Charlton, Wigan and most recently Oxford.

The 24-year-old front man spent the latter half of the 2016-17 campaign on loan at Oxford, where he was prolific, scoring 10 goals in 18 League One games.

McAleny is comfortable both as an out-and-out front man and as a second striker, but he has also spent time on the left-wing during his career.
