Celtic want £10million for Stuart Armstrong

Midfielder Stuart Armstrong could quit Celtic for a £10million transfer to Premier League club Southampton after glowing reports, according to the Daily Mail.

This follows up from the story in the Scottish Sun which reported that the SPL champions were bracing themselves for bids from Southampton and West Bromwich Albion for the 25-year-old.

The newspaper claims that new Southampton boss Mauricio Pellegrino has received some positive reports from his scouts regarding the midfielder and the club are now weighing up a £10million move.

The report claims that the Hoops would demand £10million for Armstrong but they are not willing to let him leave Celtic Park before the Champions League qualifiers later this month.

Celtic will need to get through three rounds of qualifying matches in order to progress into the Champions League group stages next season.

Last month, the midfielder spoke to the Daily Mail and revealed that he is happy playing football at Celtic and he expressed his desire to remain at the club for the foreseeable future.

Armstrong enjoyed an excellent campaign with Celtic last season, contributing with 17 goals and seven assists in all competitions.

The Scotsman’s performances helped guide the club to a historic treble where they managed to remain unbeaten throughout the entire domestic season.

Armstrong’s current contract at Celtic Park expires at the end of next season.
