Leeds United’s bid to add forward Samuel Saiz to their growing list of summer signings is in danger of collapse, according to the Yorkshire Evening Post.

The regional newspaper claim that Saiz’s potential move to Elland Road has hit a major stumbling block due to an economic rights clause in the contract that took him from Atletico Madrid to current club Huesca last summer.

The Yorkshire Evening Post report that United’s hopes of landing the Spaniard are now “up in the air” despite what have been extensive talks dating back a month.

It is said that Saiz, 26, travelled to Miami in the United States for a holiday on Sunday “with his future unresolved” after optimism last week that a deal could be sealed.

Leeds have already made four signings this summer in midfield duo Mateusz Klich and Madger Gomes, goalkeeper Felix Wiedwald and right-winger Hadi Sacko, who converted his loan of last season into a permanent transfer.

It appears that the chances of United adding a fifth in Saiz are now in serious doubt even though the Yorkshire Evening Post report that Leeds are keen to tie up the deal.

Negotiations have stalled as Atletico retain the economic rights to Spaniard Saiz and negotiated a clause entitling them to half of any fee paid for him provided his valuation rises above a certain level.

Huesca are reportedly demanding around £3million for Real Madrid academy, who was hailed as one of the outstanding players in the Spanish second division last season after scoring 12 league goals and supplying eight assists from 40 matches in the competition.
