Middlesbrough have been installed the favourites to sign Leeds United goalkeeper Rob Green, according to the latest bookmakers’ odds.

Bet Victor priced the Championship club, who are managed by ex-Leeds boss Garry Monk, at 2/1 on Wednesday night to land the 37-year-old before the summer transfer window shuts.

Boro are ahead in the betting of Premier League giants Arsenal (4/1), Bournemouth (6/1) and Championship rivals Sunderland (6/1).

The possibility of Green quitting Elland Road has increased following the signing of German goalkeeper Felix Wiedwald from Werder Bremen last Friday on a three-year contract.

The Yorkshire Evening Post claim that Monk is keen on signing Green if he loses his place as the United number one to Wiedwald at the start of the new season.

Reports last weekend also stated that Arsenal are eyeing a swoop for the veteran keeper as emergency cover for Petr Cech and David Ospina.

Green started all 46 of Leeds’ Championship matches last season but will have to prove himself to new boss Thomas Christiansen.

The former England international had a shaky start after moving to Elland Road last summer on a free transfer but was one of the team’s outstanding players in the second half of the season as they mounted a strong promotion challenge before finishing seventh in the Championship.

Marco Silvestri and Bailey Peacock-Farrell are also on Leeds’ books but the latter is expected to go out on loan in the upcoming season.
