Leeds United are on the brink of a sensational Spanish double deal for Samuel Saiz and his Huesca teammate Alexander Gonzalez, according to Aragon TV.

The Spanish television station reported in a broadcast on Thursday that Leeds’ pursuit of Huesca playmaker Saiz is “edging ever closer” (via Sport Witness) as they aim to finalise a transfer that has been in the offing for the last fortnight.

Intriguingly, Aragon TV claim that Venezuela international Gonzalez, 24, is set to join the 26-year-old forward at Elland Road in what would be a remarkable double deal.

Spanish second-tier outfit Huesca are reportedly holding out for £3million for Saiz, whose economic rights are said to be held by his former club Atletico Madrid.

The player, who was one of the outstanding performers in La Liga 2, is currently on holiday in Miami and is not expected back until Sunday.

Radio Huesca add that Leeds are close to sealing the arrival of Saiz and his teammate Gonzalez, who has a pedigree borne from 45 international caps and being a regular at Huesca and former clubs Young Boys and FC Thun in Switzerland.

Gonzalez is predominantly a right-sided midfielder who can also fill in at right-back.

He was a mainstay of the Huesca side that reached the second-tier play-offs last season, scoring four goals in 35 league matches.
