Thomas Christiansen has reassured Leeds United supporters that new signings will soon arrive at the club to add to the trio of new arrivals already in place.

Supporters on social have started to get fidgety in recent days after reported moves to land Spanish playmaker Samuel Saiz and Macedonian winger Ezgjan Alioski have failed to be finalised.

Amid growing concerns that the signings of the attacking duo are on the verge of collapse, fans will have been delighted to hear new manager Christiansen’s positive transfer update on Wednesday.

Speaking after Leeds beat Harrowgate 4-2 in a behind-closed-doors friendly at their Thorp Arch training headquarters, Christiansen explained he has plenty of squad options already but is looking forward to having more to choose from.

“There is a lot of competition and there are still some new players to come in, but everyone should have an opportunity,” said the former Spain international, as quoted by the official Leeds Twitter account.

Christiansen’s confident comments strongly suggest that Leeds are in the advanced stages of completing a number of new signings.

The Yorkshire giants have signed three new players this summer, goalkeeper Felix Wiedwald and midfield duo Mateusz Klich and Madger Gomes, and have also converted Hadi Sacko’s 2016-17 loan into a permanent transfer.

All three of the new arrivals were given run-outs on Wednesday as goals from Kemar Roofe (penalty), Gomes Pablo Hernandez and Lee Irwin kicked off Leeds’ pre-season campaign as two different X1s were used in each half of the match.

One report suggested last Friday that Leeds will sign around 10 new players this summer, including Sacko and Pontus Jansson, who both spent the entirety of last season at the club.

There are also set to be a number of player heading out of the exit door to follow midfielder Luke Murphy, who joined Burton Albion on a season-long loan on Monday, and Lewie Coyle, who sealed a season-long move to Fleetwood Town on Tuesday.
