Samuel Saiz is set to undergo a Leeds United medical at the start of next week as the club’s transfer blitz continues, according to the Yorkshire Evening Post.

The regional newspaper claim that the Championship big hitters are in advanced talks to sign the Huesca forward and an agreement is likely to be finalised at the end of next week.

The Yorkshire Evening Post report that the two clubs are ready to conclude negotiations with a view to Saiz travelling to Leeds to complete medical test from next Monday.

It is said that Leeds are expected to pay a fee of around £2.5million for the playmaker even Spanish publication Mundo Deportivo reported on Monday night that the former league champions had tabled a £3.1million bid.

Spanish top-tier clubs Eibar and Real Betis are among those who have been unable to compete with the terms on offer from Leeds, who are also reportedly willing to pay Saiz around £18,000-a-week.

He is set to become Leeds’ third signing in little over a week, with central midfield duo Mateusz Klich and Madger Gomes already confirmed as new arrivals.

Poland international Klich joined from FC Twente for a fee of around £1.5million and Gomes was announced on Tuesday as a free transfer arrival from the Liverpool academy.

Saiz is widely regarded as one of the outstanding players in the Spanish second division and had a fine 2016-17 season in which he scored 12 goals and supplied eight assists in 40 league appearances for Huesca as they finished sixth and in the play-off spots.

He is out of contract at the La Liga 2 outfit in 12 months.
