Rangers are looking to bring Norwich City’s recruitment chief Joe Savage to the club as the new Director of Football, according to the Daily Record.

The British newspaper claims that the men from Ibrox are impressed with Savage’s contacts across Europe and they believe that he could be the right man to spot quality players and persuade them to join Rangers.

Savage has some experience in Scotland as he previously worked with Hamilton and he played a crucial role in bringing new recruits to the club which saw them get promoted to the Scottish Premier League in 2014.

Savage was instrumental in bringing Tony Andreu to Hamilton in 2014 and the French striker went on to score 28 goals in all competitions in just two years playing at the Lanarkshire club.

During the 2015 January transfer window, Savage was the man behind the signing of Brazilian defender Lucas Tagliapietra who slotted straight into the first-team and helped Hamilton achieve a 7th placed finish in the 2014-2015 season and also helped them avoid relegation the following season.

This could be the second Norwich man to join Rangers this season as the Daily Record recently reported that the Glaswegian side were in talks with 30-year-old attacking midfielder Graham Dorrans.

Rangers have already made their first signing in the summer transfer window with Portugal defender Bruno Alves joining the club on a two-year deal.
