Benfica ace Daniel Candeias has hinted he is open to a reunion with Rangers manager Pedro Caixinha this summer.

Candeias, 29, is a Benfica player, but he has never made a first-team appearance for them in his three seasons at the club which have seen him loaned out to Nuremberg, Granada, Metz and Alanyaspor.

Before he joined Benfica in the summer of 2014, the right-sided midfielder had plied his trade at Nacional, where he was managed by Caixinha.

The Scottish Sun has previously claimed that the Ibrox boss was keen on a reunion with Candeias, as he looks to overhaul his squad this summer.

Now looks as though Candeias wants to play under Caixinha again as well, as he told Portuguese paper Record: “It’s always good to have your name linked to big clubs.

“I know the manager well, because we’ve worked together at Nacional, and if there’s interest we’ll talk.”

The 29-year-old spent the 2016/17 campaign in Turkey on loan at Alanyaspor where he was one of the club’s top performers, scoring four goals and providing four assists in 29 league games.

During his spell at Nacional between 2010 and 2014 he was also a mainstay of the side, playing 101 league and cup games, which yielded 17 goals and 12 assists.

Candeias was capped 15 times by Portugal Under-21s in his youth, but he has never featured for the senior side.
