Leeds United are set to win the race to sign Lugano forward Ezgjan Alioski ahead of interested Italian clubs, according to a report.

Italian transfer site Calcio Addict claim that it has already been decided that the Macedonia international will make a move to Elland Road despite interest from Serie A outfit Atalanta.

It is said that “the future of Ezgjan Alioski will be [in]England” and that the site’s sources have informed them “it would be Leeds”.

Leeds have been strongly linked with the wide forward, 25, since the middle of last week and reports in Switzerland have stated they are trying to thrash out an agreement to make him their fourth summer signing.

The Championship giants sealed a deal for central midfielder Mateusz Klich on Friday after converting the 2016-17 loans of Pontus Jansson and Hadi Sacko into permanent transfers.

Alioski has come to prominence after spearheading Lugano to a third-placed finish in the Swiss top division in the recent domestic season.

The 25-year-old finished as the third leading scorer in the Swiss league and also proved to be a great creator, with his haul of 17 goals from 36 matches in all competitions supplemented by 14 assists.

The 13-times Macedonia international could now become the second signing under new Leeds manager Thomas Christiansen following the capture of Klich from FC Twente for a fee of around £3million.

Leeds officials made it clear when Christiansen was unveiled last Monday that they are looking to significantly strengthen the playing squad in the coming weeks.
