Five things learned about Rangers in win v Progres Niederkorn

|

1. Wasteful in front of goal

Given the sheer difference in quality between the two sides – irregardless of Rangers’ poor form last season – the home side was always likely to bombard the Progres goal.

They fashioned countless opportunities in the final third, and dominated possession, but as was often the case last season, they lacked the finishing touch.

It was of course Kenny Miller who came to the rescue with his 37th-minute strike, although Rangers can’t afford to rely on him entirely this season.

Caixinha will hope that it won’t remain a concern much longer after adding two new goalscorers to his ranks in Alfredo Morelos and Eduardo Herrera, although neither were named in the starting eleven.

The job got done regardless, but there will need to be considerable improvement if they are to progress all the way to the group-stages of the competition.
