Leeds youngster Alex Wollerton has signed his first professional contract with the club, his management company have confirmed.

Base Soccer Agency posted a message on their Twitter account on Thursday evening that showed Wollerton 17, putting pen to paper at Elland Road.

The management company uploaded an image of the midfielder and accompanied it with a congratulatory message to the player on signing his first professional deal.

There is likely an imminent announcement on the official Leeds media channels after Wollerton became the second teenager within hours to sign a new deal with the Yorkshire giants.

Another management company First Eleven Sports revealed that left-sided flyer Tom Pearce, 19, had penned a new deal 12 months after signing his first professional contract.

Like Pearce before him, Wollerton has progressed from the Leeds academy to the professional ranks following a two-year scholarship.

The youngster, who turns 18 in September, has committed his future to the Championship club, although the length of the deal is not yet confirmed.

Pearce was a regular for Leeds Under-18s last season and is now set to target a place in the Under-23s in the forthcoming season.

Leeds have been busy agreeing deals with younger and senior players as they step up plans to overhaul all levels of the club.
