Rangers have confirmed the signing of Bruno Alves on a two-year deal.

The experienced Portuguese centre-back becomes Gers manager Pedro Caixinha’s first signing of the summer.

The Glasgow giants announced the 35-year-old’s arrival on their official website on Wednesday afternoon.

This comes after Sky Sports Scotland reported he was set to undergo a medical with the club on Tuesday.

Sky Sports Italy correspondent Gianluca Di Marzio also previously wrote on his personal website that the 35-year-old was set to put the finishing touches to a move to the Glasgow giants.

The Portuguese international arrives from Italian outfit Cagliari, where he spent the 2016/17 campaign.

He was a mainstay of their back line, making 37 appearance in all competitions, scoring one goal.

The 35-year-old is a true veteran having played more than 50 Champions League games for the likes of Fenerbahce, Porto and Zenit St Petersburg.

He has a glittering CV having won four league titles with Porto, a further two at Zenit and one during his spell at Fenerbahce.

Alves has also been capped 85 times by Portugal, and was part of the 2016 European Championship winning side.

The Ibrox club are set for a summer of upheaval, and the Portuguese defender is the first signing of Caixinha’s squad overhaul.
