Rangers are set to confirm their third signing of the transfer window as Mexican star Carlos Pena flies to Glasgow for a medical exam, according to a Daily Record report.

The Daily Record claims that Pena’s Guadalajara side and Rangers reached an agreement surrounding a transfer fee, which is thought to be a three-year deal.

The report went as far as to say that the Mexican midfielder was at an airport in Mexico City on Thursday preparing to fly to Glasgow ahead of a medical on Friday.

The 27-year-old looks to be following the likes of Bruno Alves, and Ryan Jack who was confirmed to be joining the Ibrox earlier today.

Pena has 19 caps for Mexico, and he has scored two goals for his country.

Ryan Jack completed a move from Aberdeen after signing a three-year contract, which was announced by the club today, and it looks as though Pena’s move is expected to be confirmed imminently.

Pedro Caixinha appears to be starting the summer transfer window strong by swooping on players early.

Undoubtably Caixinha will want to rebuild the club to challenge the strength of their rivals after his side finished a staggering 39 points behind Celtic last season.

Caixinha clearly plans on making an impact at the Ibrox during his first transfer window this summer, and he will be able to use his foreign market knowledge following his work at previous clubs Santos Laguna in Mexico, and Al-Gharafa in Qatar.
