Rangers manager Pedro Caixinha believes the club have snapped up midfielder Ryan Jack at just the right time in his career.

The Scottish club announced the confirmed signing of the 25-year-old from Aberdeen on their official club Twitter account on Thursday afternoon, where he becomes Caixinha’s second signing in the space of two days.

Caixinha had earlier added experienced centre-back Bruno Alves to his ranks, but the Portuguese moved to continue his early transfer business by completing the signing of Jack from rivals Aberdeen.

Jack arrives at Ibrox on a three-year deal, following the expiry of his contract at Pittodrie Stadium, where he made 250 appearances in all competitions, contributing 11 goals and 11 assists.

He also served as club captain, and with Caixinha impressed by his leadership qualities, the Rangers chief admits that Jack is joining the club at the right time in his career.

He told the club’s official website: “Ryan is one player who, for the last three seasons and from the age of 23, has been the captain of Aberdeen and that tells me a lot about the character, the personality and the maturity he has as well as the talent.

“I believe 25 is a great age for him to come here. He had three years as captain of Aberdeen and has that experience, and he understands what it means to represent Rangers.

“I think we have all the points together to get the best from Ryan and to get the best from all the players that are coming. I’m very happy that Ryan is our first Scottish signing.”

More new arrivals are expected to follow Alves and Jack into Ibrox in the coming weeks, with Caixinha’s plan to overhaul the first-team squad still in its opening stages.

The Daily Record claim the club have stepped up their interest and are in talks over a deal to sign Norwich City midfielder Graham Dorrans.

Meanwhile, the Express have also named Ben Heneghan, Louis Moult, Liam Lindsay, Kenny McLean, Calum Paterson and Jamie Walker as other potential targets.
