Rangers defender Myles Beerman has stated on Twitter that the “journey will continue” after making his international debut for Malta.

The 18-year-old was part of the Malta team that caused an upset and beat Ukraine 1-0 away from home on Tuesday in a friendly encounter.

Prior to playing for the senior team, right-back Beerman had represented his home country at three different age groups from the under-21s to the under-17s.

Nonetheless, after his country secured the win, the Rangers youngster expressed his views and delight on his personal Twitter account to his supporters.

“What a feeling,” said Beerman. “Always an honour to play for my country. The journey continues.”

Added to his debut for Malta, Beerman’s club manager, Pedro Caixinha gave him his first start for the Gers during a goalless draw against Kilmarnock in March.

He went on to play a further six matches for Caixinha’s side in the Scottish Premiership, all as a left-back with his team winning four of those encounters.

However, the former Manchester City academy product suffered three defeats, two at the hands of Celtic, who went on to win the domestic treble at the end of the campaign.

Brendan Rodgers side recorded 106 points from their 38 matches, dropping points on only four occasions and finishing 39 points ahead of their Old Firm rivals, who finished third.

Added to that, they won the Scottish League Cup and the Scottish Cup, which saw the Bhoys finish off the 2016/17 campaign unbeaten.
