Alan Hutton believes there are “exciting” times ahead for the Aston Villa supporters and the players are eager to help them achieve success.

The 32-year-old was part of the Villa team that failed to earn instant promotion to the Premier League during the recently concluded campaign.

Right-back Hutton will now be looking to help manager Steve Bruce guide the Midlands club back to the promise land next term.

After missing out on a top-six spot, Bruce’s side will be one of the favourites to win the title and Hutton was adamant that his teammates will work hard to get to that position.

Hutton had this passionate message to the supporters:

“The boys are brilliant together,” said Hutton, as quoted by the club’s official Twitter account. “We have a group which wants to work hard and succeed. It’s exciting times, I believe.”

Over the course of the season, Glasgow-born Hutton played 34 league matches for his team as they recorded 62 points from their 46 matches.

There will be a lot of competition for the right-hand side of defence next season, with three players vying for that defensive position.

Teenager James Bree was brought to the club in January from Barnsley and Ritchie de Laet made his switch last summer from Leicester City.

However, the Belgian suffered a season-ending injury in September and he will be looking to fight his way back into the side when he returns in the summer.

Until then, it is likely that Hutton will be Bruce’s first choice right-back, with Bree providing back-up to the former Tottenham player.
