New Rangers signing Alfredo Morelos has the potential to follow in the footsteps of Barcelona superstar Luis Suarez, according to the player’s adviser.

The club confirmed on their official website on Monday afternoon that the 20-year-old Colombian had put pen to paper on a three-year contract at Ibrox.

Morelos has become the sixth signing of the summer for Rangers after Bruno Alves, Ryan Jack, Fabio Cardoso, Dalcio and Daniel Candeias all completed deals with the club.

Speaking to the Daily Record, the Columbian’s adviser Jonne Lindbolm is convinced that the player has the ability to play at the highest level in the foreseeable future and he believes that Morelos is very similar to Uruguayan forward Suarez.

“Rangers are getting an extremely talented young player who is hungry to do well. I know he will end up playing in one of the big four or five leagues in the future,” he said.

“He is 20-years-old, his scoring record is really impressive. He’s a brilliant finisher, he’s strong, he’s technical, he works hard and he’s improving all the time. That’s why I expect he’ll go even further than Rangers.

“In terms of his style of play he reminds me a bit of Luis Suarez. Obviously only one of them is a world class player but, in terms of how he controls the ball, how he shoots in really small spaces without needing a lot of time. Once he gets the ball at his feet inside the box he will shoot and usually he scores.”

Before his move to Scotland, the Colombian attacker enjoyed an impressive campaign with Finland top tier side HJK Helsinki as he scored 11 goals in just nine appearances.

His contribution has seen the club top the league table with a nine point advantage after 14 matches of the season played.

Morelos had a successful spell during his time in Finland as he made a total of 62 appearances in all competitions for HJK Helsinki and notched up 46 goals and provided 13 assists.

The Colombian is set to be an important part of the first-team as Rangers look to mount a serious title challenge next season.
